Congress urges voters to back party candidates in municipal elections
Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday appealed to voters to ensure the victory of Congress candidates in the upcoming municipal elections Congress is contesting across the state, stating that urban development and civic services were being strengthened under the present government.
Referring to the election notification, the minister said polling would be held on February 11. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the people’s government was moving forward with a planned approach to improve urban infrastructure, civic amenities and public services.
Ponnam Prabhakar said several development programmes were already underway in towns and cities across Telangana. He added that voters should support the Congress in the municipal polls to ensure continuity of development and better governance in urban local bodies.
He said the Congress government had introduced multiple welfare schemes aimed at improving living standards. These included distribution of ration cards, construction of Indiramma houses, supply of fine rice through the public distribution system, free electricity up to 200 units, free bus travel for women, interest-free loans for women, and distribution of Indiramma sarees.

Emphasising the municipal elections Congress campaign, the minister said comprehensive development across all urban areas was possible only with the active support of the people. He urged voters to stand by the Congress Party and bless its candidates to strengthen local self-governance.
Ponnam Prabhakar said the government’s focus was on inclusive growth and ensuring that welfare schemes reached the intended beneficiaries. He reiterated that electing Congress representatives in municipalities would accelerate development works and improve the quality of civic administration.
