The accused, identified as Bhaskar Pramod Mula, an unemployed resident of Alekhya Estate, Chikkadpally, had lodged a complaint on February 9, 2026, claiming unknown persons trespassed into his house and stole gold and silver items.

Investigation exposes Chikkadpally false theft case

During the probe, officers examined the scene and questioned family members. However, inconsistencies emerged in the accused’s version. Police later found that he had created a false crime scene in his penthouse and misled both his family and investigators.

According to officials, the accused completed B.Tech in 2014 and briefly went to the United States for higher studies before returning. He later stayed in Bengaluru and incurred personal loans and credit card dues to support a lavish lifestyle.

To repay debts, he started stealing his grandmother’s gold ornaments from 2024. He mortgaged the stolen gold at HDFC Bank, SBI and Muthoot Finance and secured around ₹4.6 lakh. When his elder brother’s marriage was fixed and the family planned to use the grandmother’s jewellery, he allegedly panicked and hatched a plan to stage a theft.

On February 9, he hid some ornaments in another block of the same apartment complex where his family stayed. He also disposed of empty boxes and a lock in the Musi nala before informing police at around 10.30 pm through his brother and filing a false complaint.

Police recovered two gold rings weighing about 3 tulas, one silver plate, two silver bowls and three gold ornament mortgage slips linked to HDFC Bank, SBI and Muthoot Finance, involving about 80 grams of gold. The total value of the recovered property is estimated at ₹12 lakh.

Officials arrested the accused under the guidance of DCP Secunderabad Zone Ms. Rakshitha Krishna Murthy, IPS, and Additional DCP J. Narsaiah. ACP Chikkadpally Division L. Ramesh Kumar, SHO M. Mallesham and SI Mohd. Kareem, along with the crime staff, supervised the investigation.

Police produced the accused before the court. Further investigation is underway.
