Aparna residents protest demanding road before Future City plans
Hyderabad: An Aparna residents protest erupted in the Serilingampally constituency on Saturday. Residents of Aparna Hill Park, Aparna Silicon and Aparna Gardenia demanded that authorities build a proper access road before announcing large-scale Future City plans.
Residents said the lack of a safe and motorable road in the Chandanagar area had caused severe hardship. Alleging long-term neglect by officials and public representatives, they came out on the streets with their families to press their demand.
Thousands joined a rally that began at Aparna Hill Park and marched to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation office in Chandanagar. Protesters said daily commuting had turned risky, especially at night and during the monsoon, due to potholes and incomplete road stretches.
Residents recalled that Arekapudi Gandhi raised the issue in the Assembly in 2023, which raised hopes of a lasting solution. However, they said authorities failed to make progress even after the previous government sanctioned funds for the road.

Protesters said officials relied on temporary patchwork repairs and repeated stone laying, which failed to solve the problem. They questioned why authorities had not completed the road despite residents paying taxes worth crores of rupees.
Residents said travel on Gatukula road had become frightening. Pregnant women and elderly residents, they added, faced daily risks while commuting. Therefore, they demanded the immediate completion of road works and accountability from officials and elected representatives.
The Aparna residents protest caused heavy commotion in the area. Protesters also warned that they would continue the agitation until authorities delivered a permanent solution.
