Gold misuse leads to Bhanuprakash arrest
Investigators said they found conclusive evidence against the officer. Acting on this, police took him into custody and remanded him to Chanchalguda Central Prison.
According to officials, the SI developed a habit of using online betting apps. Over time, heavy losses pushed him into serious debt.
To repay loans, he allegedly diverted gold ornaments seized in criminal cases. Instead of depositing the property as per procedure, he reportedly pledged the gold outside the police station and raised cash.
Missing revolver raises fresh questions
Meanwhile, the investigation took a serious turn. Officers discovered that the service revolver issued to the SI was missing.
Bhanuprakash Reddy claimed that he lost the weapon while travelling by train. However, senior officers doubted this explanation. Therefore, they ordered a detailed inquiry.
Police will now examine whether the revolver was pledged or sold. They will also probe procedural violations and possible criminal breach of trust.
Finally, officials said they will take further action based on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
