AI security deployed for Medaram Jatara arrangements

AI security Medaram Jatara to manage massive crowds

Hyderabad: Telangana Police deployed AI-based security systems for the Medaram Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara. The move aims to manage crowds, prevent crimes, and ensure smooth movement of devotees during the mega tribal festival.

The Jatara will take place from January 28 to 31 at Medaram in Mulugu district. Officials expect nearly 2 to 3 crore devotees over three days. They described it as Asia’s largest tribal congregation. Under the supervision of SP Sudheer Ram Nath Kekan, police launched a high-tech security framework named ‘Medaram 2.0’.

As part of the plan, Telangana Police are using an advanced AI drone system called TG-QUEST. The drones will monitor forest areas, Jampanna Vagu bathing ghats, temple premises, and approach roads. The system can detect overcrowding early and issue alerts when risks emerge.

In addition, police have deployed helium balloons with PTZ cameras. They have also installed over 450 CCTV cameras. A central control room will monitor all feeds in real time.

AI security Medaram plan covers traffic, crowd safety, and crime prevention

Officials said the AI deployment will help manage traffic and trace missing persons. It will also assist in preventing criminal activity. Around 13,000 police personnel and 12 special crime teams will remain on duty throughout the event.

Authorities noted that narrow forest roads and heavy footfall often pose safety challenges during the Jatara. AI-based monitoring will help predict congestion and reduce risks. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and other ministers are reviewing arrangements regularly.

The government said these measures aim to help devotees complete darshan quickly. It also seeks to ensure their safe return without inconvenience.
