64 players selected for state-level rugby competitions in Chegunta
Hyderabad: Officials selected 64 players for state-level competitions after the Medak district Under-15 Semi-Tack and Under-18 Tackle Rugby matches at Chegunta on Friday.
Nearly 200 players from across the district took part in the competitions at the Multipurpose Indoor Stadium Ground in Chegunta. The matches saw intense competition as young players showcased strong technical and physical skills.
Coach Karanam Ganesh Ravikumar said selectors chose players based on performance, discipline and overall potential during the matches. He added that the selected players will represent Medak district in upcoming state-level rugby competitions.
Chegunta rugby selections highlight growing interest in the sport
Chegunta Sarpanch Sravanthi Satish, Deputy Sarpanch Rafiq and Junior College Principal Krishna Reddy attended the event. They encouraged the players to train consistently and stay committed to the sport.
Officials said the Chegunta selections reflect rising interest in rugby among district youth. They also noted that district-level tournaments help identify talent and strengthen competitive sports at the grassroots level.
