Hyderabad: Telangana police constable Shaik Fouzia won a silver medal at a national fencing event held in Jammu and Kashmir, earning praise from senior officials for her performance.

The competition took place from March 7 to March 13, 2026, as part of a Kabaddi cluster event. Fouzia, a police constable (PC No. 13109) posted at Bhongir Rural Police Station, competed in the women’s foil category and advanced to the finals before securing second place.

Director General of Police Shivadhar Reddy congratulated Fouzia for bringing recognition to the Telangana Police through her achievement. He also appreciated fencing coach S. R. Arjun for his role in training and mentoring the athlete.

Officials said the performance highlighted the growing participation of police personnel in national-level sports competitions. Fouzia’s success was seen as a result of consistent training and institutional support.

The Telangana police constable received accolades during a felicitation attended by Dr. Gajarao Bhupal, Inspector General of Police (Sports), and Rama Rao, ACP and Sports Officer, Telangana.

They commended both the athlete and the coaching staff for their dedication and contribution to the sport. Moreover, they noted that such achievements inspire other personnel to pursue excellence beyond regular duties.

Officials added that the department would continue to encourage sports participation among its members. They emphasised that national-level success enhances both individual careers and institutional reputation.
