Telangana confirms 70,000 government jobs filled, eyes 1 lakh target
Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Wednesday confirmed that 70,011 government jobs have either been filled or are in the final stages of recruitment, marking a significant milestone in its employment drive since coming to power.
According to an official statement, 61,379 appointments have been completed so far, and another 8,632 are at the final stage. The government said it aims to cross the 1 lakh mark soon, with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy personally distributing appointment letters through “Koolola Panduga” (jobs festival) events across the state.
Officials claimed that Telangana has made more government job appointments in the past two years than any other Indian state. A key step was the revamp of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC), modelled after the UPSC, to streamline recruitment processes and address long-standing delays.
Key sectors see bulk of Telangana government jobs
The TSPSC alone filled 15,780 posts in two years, while the education sector saw 11,062 teacher appointments under the Mega DSC, with over 10,000 already reporting for duty. Residential institutions received 8,400 new staff, including TGTs, PGTs, junior and degree lecturers.
In the police department, 16,067 constables were appointed after stalled recruitments were cleared. The Medical and Health Recruitment Board completed 8,666 hires, including 6,956 staff nurses and 1,260 lab technicians. Another 7,267 health posts are in process, expected to be completed by March next year.
The government also introduced a first-of-its-kind annual job calendar to ensure continuous and transparent recruitment. CM Revanth has pledged to continue offering merit-based opportunities at the same pace.
