Hyderabad: Rangareddy district Additional Collector (Local Bodies) Srinivas said the scale of finance must match farmers’ actual needs. He proposed a 25 per cent increase over last year while finalising norms for the 2026–27 financial year.

Srinivas spoke on Tuesday at a District-Level Technical Committee meeting to finalise the scale of finance for 2026–27. Hyderabad District Cooperative Central Bank Limited organised the meeting at the Integrated District Offices complex. Officials from Rangareddy, Medchal and Vikarabad districts attended the session.

The additional collector said farmers cultivating paddy, cotton, maize and other commercial crops needed higher credit limits. He added that realistic finance norms would help farmers manage rising cultivation costs and reduce dependence on informal lenders.

Officials from multiple departments presented their views before the committee. Members discussed crop-wise requirements and district-specific conditions in detail. The committee aimed to ensure that the proposed scale of finance reflected ground realities.
