Observer asks officials to scrutinise nominations carefully in Rangareddy municipal polls
Hyderabad: General Observer Mayank Mittal on Wednesday directed returning officers in Rangareddy district to conduct municipal nominations scrutiny with utmost care and avoid any errors while accepting nomination papers submitted by candidates.
With the nomination process for the second general municipal elections beginning from January 28 and continuing till January 30, the General Observer inspected the nomination reception centre set up for Ibrahimpatnam Municipality. He was accompanied by District Election Officer and Collector C. Narayana Reddy and Additional Collector (Local Bodies) Srinivas.
Mayank Mittal instructed officials to thoroughly verify every nomination and ensure that details of all candidates who collected nomination forms were properly entered in registers. He also emphasised the need to send timely reports related to nominations to the district headquarters.
The General Observer said help desks had been established at every nomination centre and asked government staff on duty to extend necessary assistance to candidates during the filing of nomination papers.
Municipal nominations scrutiny to follow Election Commission guidelines
Collector C. Narayana Reddy said officials had been instructed to ensure that the municipal nominations scrutiny process was carried out without lapses. He directed staff to clearly inform candidates about the mandatory documents required while submitting nominations.
The Collector said officials should not take independent decisions in case of doubts and must consult senior officers to resolve issues. He added that all Election Commission guidelines were being strictly followed to conduct the election process in a peaceful atmosphere and ensure effective implementation of the model code of conduct.
Officials handling election duties were also advised to approach higher authorities whenever clarification was required. Ibrahimpatnam RDO Ananth Reddy and other concerned officials were present during the inspection.
