Poets and artists must partner district development, says Governor Jishnu Dev Varma
Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Tuesday said poets and artists must actively partner in district development. He said cultural voices play a vital role in social and national progress.
The Governor addressed district officials and eminent personalities at the IDOC meeting hall in Jogulamba Gadwal district. He urged all sections of society to work together for development. Referring to Viksit Bharat, he said coordinated efforts by departments and citizens were key to inclusive growth.
He highlighted the historical and spiritual importance of the Sri Jogulamba Temple and Bala Brahmeswara Swamy Temple at Alampur. He assured support for their development. He said education remained the most critical sector and called for qualitative improvement to raise district standards.
The Governor praised the district for effective implementation of the TB Mukt Bharat programme. He also appreciated large-scale blood donation camps organised by the Indian Red Cross Society.
Commending the district administration, he said officials had delivered strong performance. He urged them to adopt innovative solutions while prioritising public welfare.
District development roadmap presented to Governor
Earlier, District Collector B M Santosh presented a detailed PowerPoint on the district’s geography, history and sector-wise progress. He also explained the implementation of welfare schemes. Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy presented a memento, while officials offered the Governor a framed Gadwal handloom silk saree.
The Governor received a ceremonial welcome on arrival from Alampur, including police honours. Children from Gadwal Bal Bhavan presented cultural programmes at the venue.
He visited departmental stalls set up on the premises, including Red Cross, MEPMA and SERP. He praised women self-help groups for using loans effectively to run livelihood enterprises. At the medical and health stall, officials briefed him on the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. He also reviewed stalls related to Nasha Mukt Bharat and women and child welfare initiatives.
The Governor examined handlooms displayed by the textiles department, interacted with weavers and praised the craftsmanship of Gadwal sarees. He planted a sapling in the Collectorate garden and posed for a group photograph with public representatives and officials.
Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi, SP Srinivasa Rao, Alampur MLA Vijayudu, former DCCB chairman Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, senior Raj Bhavan officials, additional collectors, RDOs and district officers attended the programme.
