Nizamuddin cautions voters about digital propaganda during silence period
Hyderabad: Congress leader Syed Nizamuddin has cautioned voters in Jubilee Hills against digital propaganda allegedly being spread by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) during the election silence period.
Congress flags digital disinformation threat
He said that despite the close of campaigning at 5 p.m. on Sunday, social media channels remained active and vulnerable to manipulation. “There is a risk of fake news, edited videos, and AI-based content being circulated to mislead voters,” he said.
Nizamuddin accused BRS of abandoning issue-based campaigning and relying on fabricated digital material to attack the Congress. He said such tactics showed “nervousness and defeatism” within the ruling party.
Complaints filed with authorities
He confirmed that the Congress had filed complaints with the Election Commission and cybercrime units, leading to several FIRs. “Our teams are continuously tracking and reporting violators,” he added.
He also said that the Congress campaign, guided by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, centred on governance, social welfare, and integrity in public service.
Call for vigilance and restraint
Nizamuddin appealed to voters to remain alert and avoid forwarding unverified political content. He urged Congress workers to report any instances of bribery or intimidation on polling day. “The people’s mandate must remain free and fair,” he said, expressing confidence that voters would back Congress candidate Naveen Yadav.
