MIM Helping BJP by Dividing Muslim Votes, Says Shabbir Ali
Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader Shabbir Ali alleged that the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) was helping the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar by fragmenting Muslim votes in key constituencies.
Speaking to journalists after campaigning for Congress candidate Md Qamar Ul Huda in Kharkhari village, Kishanganj, Shabbir Ali said MIM had effectively become BJP’s “B-team.” He claimed the party contested only in Muslim-dominated areas to damage secular forces.
“MIM has become a spoiler. Its politics weakens the Congress and helps communal parties gain ground,” he declared.

He said Congress has always stood for minorities’ welfare and empowerment through inclusive governance. “By dividing Muslim votes, MIM obstructs meaningful representation. Every split benefits the BJP,” he noted.
Recalling the previous Bihar election, he said MIM won just four seats yet gave BJP an edge in more than twenty constituencies. “People have now realised the design. This time, MIM will lose deposits,” he added.
He appealed to Muslim voters to unite behind Congress candidates such as Md Qamar Ul Huda. “We must protect secular politics and send a clear message against divisive forces,” he said.
