Medchal drug seizure nets ₹9 lakh haul, two arrested
Hyderabad: Excise officials carried out a Medchal drug seizure worth ₹9 lakh and arrested two persons in separate cases involving cocaine and OG Kush, officials said.
Acting on specific inputs, teams seized 76.77 grams of cocaine in one case and 200 grams of OG Kush in another. Officials also impounded a car used in the transport of narcotics. The total value of the contraband was estimated at ₹9 lakh.
Investigators found that one accused had sourced cocaine from Mumbai and transported it to Medchal for distribution. In a separate case, the second accused procured OG Kush through the Telegram app and supplied it to local consumers. Officials said both networks operated independently but targeted similar buyer groups.
The arrests followed sustained surveillance and intelligence gathering by excise teams in the Medchal zone. Officers tracked suspicious movements and verified digital communication channels before conducting the raids.
Medchal drug seizure exposes supply routes
The Medchal drug seizure revealed two distinct supply chains, including inter-city trafficking and online procurement methods. Officials noted that the use of messaging apps has become a growing concern in narcotics distribution.
Both accused were produced before authorities and later handed over to Quthbullapur and Balanagar excise stations for further investigation and legal action. Officials are now probing backward linkages to identify suppliers and forward connections to uncover local distribution networks.
The department stated that further arrests may follow as the investigation expands. Authorities also reiterated their focus on dismantling digital drug networks and inter-state supply chains.
