Hyderabad spoiled chicken supply case leads to arrest, 352 kg seized
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police arrested a man involved in a spoiled chicken supply racket and seized 352 kg of unfit meat during a targeted inspection, officials said.
Acting on credible information, the H-FAST team conducted a raid at M/s. SPR Chicken premises in Bharath Nagar near Moosapet. The operation was carried out along with Veterinary Officer Dr. K. Nagarjuna. During the inspection, officials found that spoiled chicken was stored in highly unhygienic conditions and supplied to local vendors for food preparation.
Police identified the accused as Suraj Pal, 66, a businessman from Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Kukatpally. Authorities confirmed that he was distributing chicken unfit for human consumption to nearby hotels and vendors.
Officials seized approximately 352 kg of frozen spoiled chicken, including wings, breast portions, ribs, and livers. The inspection further revealed that the premises lacked basic hygiene standards and operated with an expired FSSAI licence.
Inspection exposes spoiled chicken supply violations
Investigators noted that the storage conditions posed a serious public health risk. The seized meat was declared unsafe for consumption. Subsequently, the H-FAST team handed over the accused and the confiscated stock to the Sanathnagar Police Station for further legal action.
The operation was supervised by Vaibhav Gaikwad Raghunath, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force. Police teams from H-FAST and Sanathnagar participated in the enforcement drive.
Officials also issued a public advisory urging citizens to purchase food only from authorised and hygienic outlets. They warned against consuming food from unverified vendors and encouraged reporting unsafe food practices to authorities.
