HC clears 2021 cases against Bhatti, Uttam, Ranjith Kumar Reddy

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court has quashed criminal cases registered in 2021 against Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, and former MP G. Ranjith Kumar Reddy.
The cases against Bhatti and Uttam were linked to a Congress rally held on January 19, 2021. The rally began at the Secretariat and concluded at Raj Bhavan. Leaders and supporters demanded repeal of the three central farm laws and sought a reduction in petrol and diesel prices.
Police alleged that the rally was conducted without prior permission and that the leaders addressed a gathering at the Telugu Talli statue, disrupting traffic movement. Cases were filed under these grounds.
Bhatti and Uttam filed petitions to strike down the charges. Justice K. Lakshman heard the matter and delivered the ruling on Monday. The court found no evidence that peace and order were disturbed. It also noted the absence of proof for provocative or inflammatory speeches during the rally.
In the same judgment, the court also examined cases against former MP G. Ranjith Kumar Reddy. Two cases alleged his involvement in election irregularities. Justice Lakshman found no valid material to support the charges and quashed them as well.
The ruling provided relief to the three leaders, bringing closure to cases that had been pending since 2021.
