Hanumakonda burn case: Two found charred

Hyderabad: Police detained a man and launched a probe in the Hanumakonda burn case after a father and his daughter were found charred under suspicious circumstances in Kazipet in the early hours of Wednesday.

The incident occurred at around 4 am in Kadipikonda Rajiv Gruhakalpa under Kazipet mandal in Hanumakonda district. Police identified the deceased as Rajasekhar (54) and his daughter Rajashri (24).

According to preliminary findings, Rajashri had married Praveen in 2023. The couple had two children, a girl and a boy. However, investigators suspect that ongoing family disputes may have led to the crime.

Local residents alerted the police after noticing the incident. Soon after, officers reached the spot and began collecting evidence, including fingerprints and material samples.

Hanumakonda burn case probe focuses on family dispute angle

Police suspect that Praveen poured diesel on the victims and set them on fire. However, officials said they were verifying all angles before confirming the motive. Meanwhile, the accused has been taken into custody for questioning.

Investigators continued to examine the scene and gather forensic evidence. They also recorded statements from neighbours and family members to establish the sequence of events.

The Hanumakonda burn case has raised concerns in the locality, as police worked to determine whether the deaths were a result of a premeditated act linked to domestic conflict.
