GHMC delimitation challenge dismissed by High Court
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday dismissed petitions challenging the new ward GHMC delimitation carried out by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. The court said it would not intervene in the process.
During the hearing, the court held that judicial intervention was unnecessary in the GHMC ward delimitation exercise. It also refused to examine objections at this stage.
Officials said the Government of Telangana reorganised civic limits by merging 27 surrounding municipalities and municipal corporations into GHMC. The exercise led to the creation of 300 wards after boundary redrawing.
GHMC delimitation objections time-barred, court says
The court noted that petitioners had filed over 80 pleas against the delimitation. However, it said the statutory deadline for raising objections had already expired.
Citing the lapse of the objection period, the High Court dismissed all related petitions. The ruling clears the way for implementing the new ward structure.
