Ghatkesar suicide case: Man dies after receiving divorce notice
Hyderabad: A Ghatkesar suicide case was reported from Medchal Malkajgiri district, where a 40-year-old man died by suicide after allegedly receiving a divorce notice from his wife, police said.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Venkatesh, a resident of Edulabad village in Ghatkesar mandal. He married Mounika alias Vijayalakshmi, a native of Keesara, in 2019. Venkatesh worked as a driver, while his wife was employed as a sweeper at a Gurukul school in Keesara.
Police said the couple had been married for six years and had no children. Due to this, disputes reportedly arose between them over time. In this background, Mounika sent a legal notice seeking divorce, which allegedly left Venkatesh deeply distressed.
Ghatkesar suicide case under police investigation
Police said Venkatesh took the extreme step when no one else was at home. He allegedly died by hanging himself from a ceiling fan using a saree. Family members later found him and alerted the authorities.
A case was registered, and police said further investigation was underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death. Officials said statements from family members and others concerned would be recorded as part of the probe.
