Chevella bus accident case: Tipper owner named prime accused
Hyderabad: In a major development in the Chevella bus accident case, police named the tipper owner as the prime accused. Investigators found that overloading and overspeeding caused the fatal crash near Mirzaguda in Ranga Reddy district.
The accident occurred on November 3. An RTC bus travelling from Tandur to Hyderabad collided head-on with a gravel-laden tipper that sped along the wrong route. The crash killed 18 bus passengers and the tipper driver, taking the toll to 19. Several others suffered serious injuries.
Police said their probe confirmed that the tipper carried excess load and moved at high speed. Based on these findings, Chevella Police named tipper owner Lachhu Naik as the main accused in the FIR. Officials said he was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and sustained serious injuries. Doctors are treating him at a hospital.
Initially, police booked the tipper driver, Akash Kamble. Further investigation showed that the owner allowed the vehicle to operate with excess load. Police said this decision made him primarily responsible for the accident.

Investigators said the excess load caused loss of control and worsened the impact. They concluded that responsibility did not rest with the driver alone.
Chevella police have intensified the investigation. They aim to complete formalities and add charges if needed. Officials warned that they will take strict action against violations of transport and safety norms, especially when negligence leads to loss of life.
