ACB raids Dundigal Municipal Commissioner office, officials caught in bribe case
Hyderabad: ACB raids in Dundigal exposed alleged irregularities in the Municipal Commissioner’s office at Gandimaisamma mandal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. In a separate case, ACB officials also caught two education department staff while accepting a Rs 70,000 bribe.
According to an official press note dated 19.02.2026, the Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted a surprise inspection on 18.02.2026 at the Dundigal Municipal Commissioner’s office. The ACB City Range-II team carried out the check along with audit and technical staff. The team examined administrative records, financial transactions and statutory registers.
During the inspection, officials found WhatsApp chats that indicated alleged bribery involving a Town Planning Supervisor. Investigators also detected suspicious financial transfers to a firm owned by the supervisor’s husband. In addition, one Assistant Municipal Commissioner and five outsourced staff remained absent without permission.
The ACB team also found manipulation in the attendance records of sanitary workers by SFAs. Officers noted that 49 building permission applications were still pending. Among them, 12 cases crossed the 21-day limit. Officials also failed to issue second notices in 28 of 32 unauthorised construction cases. Investigators further detected illegal approvals of G+3 permissions for G+5 unauthorised buildings. Authorities are now verifying the bank statements of the officials concerned.
ACB raids Dundigal expose multiple administrative irregularities
ACB officials seized office records, statutory registers, file notes and digital data during the inspection. The bureau will examine the documents and submit a detailed report to the government. The report will recommend action against the officials responsible.
In another operation on 19.02.2026, the ACB City Range-I team caught two education department officials while accepting a bribe. The accused include Sangeena Phaniraj, Superintendent (General) in the office of the Commissioner and Director of School Education at Saifabad. The second accused is Gummidala Sridhar, Senior Assistant in the office of the District Education Officer, Rangareddy.
Officials said the accused demanded Rs 70,000 to process a CBSE NOC application for the academic year 2026–2027. They also promised to forward the file to higher authorities.
ACB officials recovered the bribe amount from the second accused based on the instructions of the first accused. The team arrested both officials and produced them before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally. Investigators continue to probe the case.
