ACB raids Dundigal, officials caught

Hyderabad: ACB raids Dundigal led to the exposure of alleged irregularities in the Municipal Commissioner’s office at Gandimaisamma mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, while two education department officials were caught in a separate Rs 70,000 bribe case.

According to an official press note dated 19.02.2026, the Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted a surprise check on 18.02.2026 at the Dundigal Municipal Commissioner’s office. The ACB City Range-II unit carried out the inspection with audit and technical staff to verify administrative records, financial transactions and statutory registers.

During the search, officials found alleged evidence of bribery through WhatsApp chats involving a Town Planning Supervisor. The probe also indicated unauthorised financial transactions routed to the supervisor’s husband’s firm. In addition, one Assistant Municipal Commissioner and five outsourced staff were absent without authorisation.

The ACB team detected manipulation of attendance records of sanitary workers by SFAs. It also found that 49 building permission applications were pending, including 12 beyond the 21-day limit. Moreover, officials failed to issue second notices in 28 of 32 unauthorised construction cases. Investigators also flagged illegal grants of G+3 permissions to G+5 unauthorised buildings. Bank statements of concerned officials are under verification.

The bureau seized office records, statutory registers, file notings and digital data for examination. A detailed report will be submitted to the government recommending action against those responsible.

In a separate operation on 19.02.2026, the ACB City Range-I unit caught Sangeena Phaniraj, Superintendent (General), O/o Commissioner and Director of School Education, Saifabad, and Gummidala Sridhar, Senior Assistant, O/o DEO Rangareddy. They allegedly demanded and accepted Rs 70,000 to process a CBSE NOC application for the academic year 2026-2027 and forward it to higher authorities.

The tainted amount was recovered from the possession of the second accused at the instance of the first accused. Officials said both were arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally. The case is under investigation.
